The firm and its founder
Michael Groome founded Groome International in 1996, having identified a clear gap in the market for a proactive, reliable resource for businesses dealing with the practical consequences of unpaid debts and asset disputes.
The firm began by assisting local businesses across North Wales — garages, veterinary practices, building suppliers — in recovering money owed by debtors. Within a short time, that work attracted referrals from law firms and banks who found in Groome International an operator willing to go further — and further afield — than conventional alternatives.
Over three decades, the firm has grown to serve clients across the legal, banking, insolvency, corporate, and private sectors, conducting engagements in the UK, Europe, the Gulf, West Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Mike Groome remains the firm's principal and active operator — personally known to and trusted by his clients, and directly involved in every significant matter.

No geographical limits
Where an asset has gone — or a person, a document, or a set of facts — is the firm's practical concern, not a reason to decline an instruction. Engagements have been conducted across Europe, the Gulf, the Baltic States, West Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
24-hour responsiveness
The 24-hour line is answered at all times. Instructions are acknowledged and acted upon the same day. Mike Groome is available to meet with instructing clients at their offices as and when convenient to them.
Fixed-price fees
Fees are agreed before instruction and held to. Recoveries are paid directly to the instructing client — Groome International does not hold, route, or retain client funds.
Discretion as standard
Client identities, matter details, and all confidential information are protected as a matter of course. The firm has handled celebrity matters, high-profile family proceedings, and sensitive corporate investigations — none of which are disclosed to third parties.
Direct and proactive
The firm operates directly, without referral chains or intermediaries. Instructions go to the person who does the work. This means faster action, clearer communication, and greater accountability.
Evidential standards
Reports and evidence are prepared to the standards required for legal proceedings, regulatory submissions, and law-enforcement briefings. The firm has provided reports to law-enforcement and public authorities including SOCA, Interpol, the Metropolitan Police, the Garda, and several European embassies.
